Labtech to rid the lab of cuvettes
What is wrong with cuvettes? Expensive, fragile, dirty, easily scratched, poor performance.
What is the answer? Labtech’s new “Clever Little Things” range!
Thousands of scientists use cuvettes for routine analysis in the lab every day. Whether for UV/Vis spectrophotometry, Fluorometry or for transfecting cells, scientist are united in their desire for an alternative.
Labtech are about to make a lab without cuvettes a reality. For UV/Vis and fluorescence assays, the ND-1000 and ND-3300 from NanoDrop™ allow analysis of just 1 to 2µl of sample in seconds. No cuvettes, no consumables, no sample dilutions, just wipe the sample away and it is ready to use again.
For transforming cells, Microporation is set to eliminate the need for cuvettes. Based on a novel design, Microporation allows the transformation of cells within the unique pipette tip! Just suck up your sample, put the pipette in the holder, press go and eject the sample into a culture dish. Takes only seconds and allows for truly aseptic transformations.
Speaking about the launch of this campaign, Labtech Internationals Technical Director Andrew Jones said: “All of us who have worked in labs hate cuvettes. When quantifying nucleic acids or proteins, scratched and dirty cuvettes are a major source of error, as well a waste of precious sample. We have worked with NanoDrop™ for a number of years with huge success, and the introduction of the Microporator expands our “Clever Little Things" product range to build on this success.” “We have already tested in excess of 80 cell lines with the Microporator. Our research shows that the novel sample chamber leads to big increases in both transfection efficiency and cell viability even for traditionally hard to transfect cells and primary cells . ”

NanoDrop release version 3.2.1 of the ND-1000 control softwaredownload pageNanoDrop Technologies introduces dynamic, new software for the NanoDrop® ND-1000 UV/Vis Spectrophotometer, making it an even more powerful and convenient tool for measuring 1 ul samples. The most significant change in the ND-1000 version 3.2 software is the integration of a new data management tool. This new data viewer is similar to that already in use for the NanoDrop® ND-3300 Fluorospectrometer, a recently-introduced instrument that uses the same 1 ul sample retention system for measuring fluorescence emission spectra. The data viewer enables the user to overlay current and archived spectra, plot data from archived files, choose which fields will be displayed, change incorrect sample names, and save user-configured reports. NanoDrop instruments are based on a unique and proprietary cuvette-less technology that allows one microliter samples to be pipetted directly onto the fiber optic measurement surface. Once the upper optical surface contacts the sample, a liquid bridge forms and a spectral reading is taken. Preparation for the next measurement simply requires wiping the sample off with an ordinary lab wipe. The small sample volume, broad spectral output, small footprint and remarkable ease-of-use, make NanoDrop instruments ideal for today's research environment. more information on the ND-1000 |
BioTek release the NanoQuot microplate dispenserBioTek Instruments, Inc. introduces the NanoQuot™ Microplate Dispenser, an affordable low volume liquid dispensing solution for the life science research and drug discovery markets. Sub-microliter dispensing offers scientists increased assay throughput and lower reagent expenses. The NanoQuot dispenses these volumes down to 0.1 microliters precisely and accurately into 96-, 384- and 1536-well microplates. |
96 well electroporation from Cyto PulseThe PA-96W 96-Well Array option is used in conjunction with the PA-4000 electroporator to process a large number of samples under various conditions, leading to a clear benefit in time management, variability reduction, and cost savings. As twelve different electrical protocols or even all wells can be pulsed simultaneously, the following applications are no longer on the horizon, they're in your laboratory today. >more information |
NanoDrop (tm) ND-3300 - Measure fluorescence using just 1 to 2 µlBuilding on the success of the ND-1000 spectrophotometer, Labtech International introduces the NanoDrop™ ND3300 Fluorospectrometer. Using the same unique, patented sample retention system, the ND3300 for the first time, allows scientists to perform fluorescence measurements in just 1 to 2
An array of LED’s in combination with proprietary signal processing gives the ND-3300 the ability to measure across a wide wavelength range with no need for cumbersome and costly filter changes. Just select the fluorophore from the software, load your sample and measure. No cuvettes or capillaries and no additional consumable costs. Each measurement takes less than 15 seconds and just wipe your sample away to clean.

Labtech International announces the launch of its next generation of automated cell counting and viability systems.Building on the success of the existing C-Reader systems, the CRP-200 is a fully portable, self-contained instrument ideal for any application where a measurement at site is important or space is at a premium. The C-Reader implements the well-established method of Fluorescence microscopy with a small, highly advanced fluorescence microscope combined with a CCD camera and purpose-built Image Analysis software. Samples are measured on easy-to-use, disposable micro-channel chips coated with a hydrophilic surface for rapid loading and analysis takes less than one minute per sample. Biohazard exposure is eliminated by virtue of continuous containment of samples and no contact between sample and instrument, leading to low maintenance operation, no cleaning routines between tests and no calibration. Ideal for most cell counting and viability applications, the CRP-200 can be used for a large range of cell types including mammalian, yeast and somatic cells in applications encompassing biological research, pharmaceuticals, brewing and dairy. The milk industry provides an example of the significant change adoption of the CRP-200 can bring. This new portable product has improved the ability to measure at the site, says Labtech, enabling instant measurement of somatic cells. If the CRP-200 is adopted for pre-screening raw milk at the farm, it will facilitate a quantum leap in performance for the milk collection system, says the company. |

Labtech launch the Plastic Field-finder Slides: Model GSC-C01 10/5/5Marking a microscope slide for future reference has long been a difficult problem for many microscopists. The field-finder slide from Labtech International is a plastic, disposable slide with a rectangular coordinate grid pattern precisely etched on the surface. With carefully edge ground lines for accuracy and 1200 squares of 1mm x 1mm, each consisting of 16 squares measuring 0.25 x 0.25mm, cells and other small structures can, for the first time be easily mapped and managed. Ideal for general microbiology, oncology and genetics, the field-finder slides also have applications in large optical systems for aero and space photography. |

/Labtech International release the OptiGo Gel documentation and chemiluminescence system 05/05In the fast moving world of proteomics and genomics, an increasing need for more sophisticated imaging systems can be observed. This encouraged the development of the OptiGo imaging line as successor for the successful ImaGo. OptiGo combines innovative technology with an excellent price/performance ratio. It covers the most demanding applications even those that until now have required the use of expensive laser scanning imaging systems. We have taken the basic requirements as a basis, listened very carefully to the users of our systems, and designed the OptiGo imaging system. The result is in our opinion the fastest, most straightforward and adaptable imaging system in it's price range. Incorporating the latest advances in electronics and optics Isogen has developed a system which can be used for almost all imaging applications. The unique option of the OptiVex illumination system provides high-energy excitation of your sample with visible- and near infra red light. It permits the detection of almost all fluorophores in this excitation range and provides a true alternative to laser-based imaging systems at a fraction of the cost. |
